SPORTING CLAY
If you want to hone your skills on a more challenging game, try Sporting Clays. Sporting Clays has 12 stations with different target presentations at each. You might see a crossing dove, flaring geese, flushing quail, or even a bouncing bunny simulated on the course. Sporting Clays has been called “Golf with a Shotgun” and many use it in the same way, as a leisure hobby, to entertain clients and for a fundraiser. Because the sporting clay course can accommodate many shooters at the same time it is great for large groups and can be shot in one to three hours depending on the number of shooters and the number of targets being shot. There is a 12 station course open daily at Blackwood Gun Club and up to 24 stations that are available for events soon. 5-Stand is a compact sporting game and can be shot on one of the skeet fields as well for up to 5 shooters at a time and offers a variety of targets quicker than a round sporting clays.
To shoot any of the clay games at Blackwood Gun Club one needs eye and hearing protection, a shotgun, target ammo 7.5, 8 or 9s and some safety instruction in order to get started. There are shooting instructors that can help get you started shooting if you’ve never shot clays or don’t own your own gun. Rental Shotguns are available as well. The sporting clay course, skeet and trap can be shot with groups of two to five. See info on Corporate Entertainment or a Fundraiser Event for large groups.
