If you want to hone your skills on a more challenging game, try Sporting Clays. Sporting Clays has 12 stations with different target presentations at each. You might see a crossing dove, flaring geese, flushing quail, or even a bouncing bunny simulated on the course. Sporting Clays has been called “Golf with a Shotgun” and many use it in the same way, as a leisure hobby, to entertain clients and for a fundraiser. Because the sporting clay course can accommodate many shooters at the same time it is great for large groups and can be shot in one to three hours depending on the number of shooters and the number of targets being shot. There is a 12 station course open daily at Blackwood Gun Club and up to 24 stations that are available for events soon. 5-Stand is a compact sporting game and can be shot on one of the skeet fields as well for up to 5 shooters at a time and offers a variety of targets quicker than a round sporting clays.

To shoot any of the clay games at Blackwood Gun Club one needs eye and hearing protection, a shotgun, target ammo 7.5, 8 or 9s and some safety instruction in order to get started. There are shooting instructors that can help get you started shooting if you’ve never shot clays or don’t own your own gun. Rental Shotguns are available as well. The sporting clay course, skeet and trap can be shot with groups of two to five. See info on Corporate Entertainment or a Fundraiser Event for large groups.

2What kind of shot shell can be used on the field?

We require that all shells be at least 71/2 shot or smaller.

Yes! We have parking for vehicles with trailers on the east end of the property.

4Will I be able to shoot by myself, or do I need a ``puller?``

Here at Blackwood, we recently automated our Sporting Clay Fields. You can now shoot Sporting Clays by yourself. Simply set your preferred delay on the control box and get ready. I want to pass along my gratitude and appreciation for the work Cybelle and John did for our First Shots class this past weekend.  We had a great day.  11 people (4 families) attended a mornig First Shots class and a group of 7 went through in the afternoon.  It was an excellent, fun and educational day.  Instructor John did a great job.  Please  Thank him for his service and please pass along our gratitude to the other veterans at Blackwood.

Blackwood Sporting Co. thank you for hosting our homeschool group.  Its a great program.   I look forward to our next visit.  MERRY CHRISTMAS and God Bless.

Great place to shoot. Reasonably priced, friendly service and the Range Safety Officer (RSO) was fantastic. Not only did he do a great job of ensuring we all shot safely but he offered VERY helpful tips and added a very much appreciated bit of "expert advice" to my sighting in process.
